Calentao is popular throughout Colombia, especially in the Paisa Region, the Colombian Caribbean, and Bogotá. The muleteers of the coffee region used to have breakfast with calentao. Its name comes from the action of heating or reheating the remains, including beans from the night before. In Antioquia the expression fríjoles trasnochaos is also common.
